Rabbi Yaakov D. Homnick gave his first public lecture at the age of fifteen in 1973 — and has never stopped teaching since.

Over more than five decades, Rabbi Homnick has taught every major Jewish subject except Kabbalah — to Jews of every age, every educational background, and every level of religious observance. His gift is the ability to make deep Torah scholarship genuinely accessible without sacrificing depth or rigor.

Alongside his teaching, Rabbi Homnick has counseled people through every sort of life experience, bringing the same warmth and wisdom to personal guidance that he brings to the beis medrash.

First Public Lecture

At just fifteen years old, Rabbi Homnick delivered his first public shiur — launching a lifetime dedicated to Torah teaching for every kind of Jew.

1985

Co-Founded Kollel Toras Chesed

Co-established Kollel Toras Chesed of Chicago — today the flourishing Skokie Community Kollel — as a lasting Torah institution in the midwest.

1987

1987 – 1994

Rosh Kollel — Yerushalayim

Headed Kollel Marbeh Chaim in Yerushalayim, building a vibrant beis medrash community in the heart of the holy city.

1988

1988 – 1990

Faculty — Yeshiva Ohr Somayach

Served on the faculty of one of the world's preeminent yeshivos for baalei teshuva, shaping a generation of returning Jews.

1994–
